| The Conseil québécois de développement professionnel continu des médecins has adopted minimum criteria
for an activity to be recognized as a quality activity (therefore subject
to approval for credits). The following are the Conseil’s criteria
which the CPD committees of institutions and professional associations
as well as anyone in charge or organizing a CPD activity should follow.
Obviously, the criteria and their application may vary in different organizations.
An activity that follows these general criteria is considered to be a
quality activity.
- The target audience of the activity should be clearly indicated in
the program and the way the audience was consulted must be specified.
- The needs assessment method conducted in planning the activity must
be specified.
- The program must clearly set forth the objectives of the activity.
- The educational methods selected must allow the objectives to be achieved.
- The audience must be able to participate actively in the activity.
- Participants must evaluate the activity at the end of the meeting.
- The organization of the activity must respect a code of ethics, governing
sponsorship and funding of a CPD activity.
- The budget estimates and sources of financing must be adequate.
- The related social activities must not interfere with the scientific
content of the activity.
